Posha Secures $8 Mn To Automate Home Cooking

SUMMARY

Posha (formerly known as Nymble Labs) has raised fresh funds in its Series A funding round led by Accel with participation from Xeed Ventures and WaterBridge Ventures

The capital will be deployed to improve the user interface capabilities and expand the recipe database of the smart kitchen robot

The San Francisco-based startup last raised funding from WaterBridge Ventures in 2019 in its pre-series A round

Kitchen assistance robot maker Posha (formerly known as Nymble Labs) has raised $8 Mn (around INR 67 Cr) in a Series A funding round led by Accel.

The round also saw participation from existing investors, including Xeed Ventures and WaterBridge Ventures, along with angel investors like Flipkart cofounder Binny Bansal and others.

The San Francisco-based startup plans to use the fresh capital to expand the recipe database and improve the user interface experience of the kitchen robot.

Posha said in a statement that with the current funding round it has now come out of its stealth mode and is taking pre-orders for its AI-driven kitchen robot which is scheduled for shipping from next year.

The startup has priced the robot at $1,500 (around INR 2 Lakh) and is also offering a subscription model to access customised recipes.

Founded in 2016 by Raghav Gupta and Rohin Malhotra, Posha has developed a kitchen assistance robot. Unlike other humanoid robots, Posha looks more like any other kitchen device which has the capability to cook 1000+ recipes spanning over more than 10 cuisines, the startup claims.

The startup further claims that the device, powered with its AI-driven tech stack, can adapt to the preferences of the users overtime personalising the meals to individual tastes.

The development comes almost six years after the deeptech startup raised an undisclosed amount in its Pre-Series A funding round.

At the time the startup said that it would launch its kitchen robot first in the US the market as it was much more mature in domestic help automation segment and the need was far greater compared to India.

But eventually the launch of its product got pushed to June 2024.

Posha competes with smart kitchen and robotic appliance makers such as Kitchen Robotics, Nala Robotics, Bosch, among others. The current funding will help Posha to tap into the growing smart kitchen appliance market in the US which is set to become a $41.37 Bn by 2030.
