Available in different variants, Ola Electric has priced the electric bikes in the range of INR 74,999 to INR 2,49,999
Deliveries of Roadster X and Roadster will begin in Q4 FY25, while Roadster Pro deliveries will start only in Q4 FY26
EV startup Ola Electric
unveiled its electric motorcycle portfolio, ‘The Roadster Series’, during its annual event on Thursday (August 15).
The Bhavish Aggarwal-led startup unveiled three motorcycles under this portfolio – Roadster X, Roadster, and Roadster Pro.
The entry-level bike Roadster X will come in three battery variants of 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh and peak motor output of 11 kW. The top variant will have a maximum speed of 124 km/hour and can cover a range of 200 kms in one charge. It is priced in the range of INR 74,999-INR 99,999.
Roadster will have a peak motor output of 13 kW and will come in 3.5 kWh, 4.5 kWh, and 6 kWh battery variants. Its variants are priced between INR 1,04,999 to INR 1,39,999. It will have a top speed of 126 km/hour and a range of 248 kms.
Meanwhile, Roadster Pro will have a peak power output of 52 kW and 105 Nm torque, delivering a top speed of 194 km/hour and a range of 579 kms (for the 16 kWh variant). It will be available in two variants of 8kWh and 16 kWh, priced at INR 1,99,999 and INR 2,49,999, respectively.
While the bookings for all three models and their variants will begin today, Roadster X and Roadster will reach the customers first. The deliveries of these bikes will begin in Q4 FY25, Ola Electric said.
Meanwhile, deliveries for Roadster Pro will start only in Q4 FY26.
“Today, two-thirds of India’s two wheeler market consists of motorcycles, and with Ola’s entry into this segment, EV penetration is poised to further accelerate in the Indian 2W segment. We have already been successful in accelerating the EV adoption in the scooter segment, and with our futuristic portfolio of products, we are now focused on supercharging the EV penetration through our motorcycles,” Aggarwal said.
Besides the launch of these bikes, the company also teased three additions to its motorbike family – Sports, Adventure and Cruiser. Two of these models are named Sportster and Arrowhead.
The bikes’ display panels will see the incorporation of MoveOS 5 software update. The update will be available in Ola electric’s vehicles by Diwali this year in a beta phase.
The software will update Ola Maps Navigation (turn-by-turn), TPMS alerts, OTA updates, cruise control, DIY mode, and riding modes (Sport, Normal, Eco) in the bikes.
Besides the bikes, Aggarwal also spoke about the company’s battery cells that are scheduled to be produced at its Gigafactory. The company is scheduled to integrate its cells in its own vehicles by Q1 FY26.
Ola’s entry into the electric motorbike segment comes a week after the company listed on the bourses in a muted market debut. The stock opened at a flat INR 75.99 apiece on the BSE as against its IPO issue price of INR 76.
Ola Electric’s entry into the bike segment comes at a time when its losses are widening. In the first quarter (Q1) of the financial year 2024-25 (FY25), the startup’s net loss rose 30% to INR 347 Cr from INR 267 Cr in the year-ago quarter.
Meanwhile, operating revenue grew 32% year-on-year (YoY) to INR 1,644 Cr during the quarter under review.
