Nearly five months after unveiling its first EV bike, Roadster X series, Ola Electric has officially launched the production-ready Roadster X today (February 5), with a starting price of INR 74,999 (ex-showroom).
The Roadster X comes in two lineups namely X and X+ with various battery options and their actual ex-showroom price range between INR 89,999 to INR 1,69,999.
This marks the company’s entry into the electric motorcycle market after introducing the new-gen S1 range of electric scooters last week.
Ola Electric started Roadster X production last month at Ola’s Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu and the deliveries are expected to begin in mid-March 2025.
Bhavish Aggarwal, said, “The battery has fewer wires, preventing power loss and ultimately leading to better efficiency. It is designed to accommodate 4680 Bharat cells in the future, promising higher energy density for improved range. Our modular battery architecture supports capacities from 2.5 kilowatt-hours to 9.1 kilowatt-hours. We have integrated components like busbars and enclosure integration with the charger and MCU. This integration reduces wiring, preventing power loss and ultimately leading to better efficiency.”
Aggarwal also said that going forward the company will launch products every month.
The Ola Roadster X comes with three battery options which include 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh. All three versions use a 7 kW electric motor that produces 9.4 bhp. The bike can reach a top speed of 118 kmph and accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in 3.1 seconds. The highest 4.5 kWh battery variant offers a range of 252 km on a single charge.
The Roadster X+ comes with two battery options that include 4.5 kWh and 9.1 kWh. It has a more powerful 11 kW motor that generates 14.75 bhp, allowing it to reach a top speed of 125 kmph. It can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.7 seconds.
The 4.5 kWh variant claims to offer the same 252 km range, while the 9.1 kWh battery, equipped with the 4680 Bharat Cell, claims to deliver a range of 501 km on a single charge.
The Roadster series of motorcycles was first unveiled by Ola Electric on August 15, 2024, during their flagship event, Sankalp 2024.
Then, its three models included the Roadster X, the Roadster, and the Roadster Pro. Despite the excitement surrounding the unveiling, Ola Electric did not deliver any units of the Roadster series at that time.
Even after the launch today, shares of Ola Electric were trading a mere 0.19% higher at INR 75.01 at 1:05 PM on the BSE.
