Now, Zomato Launches Order Scheduling Feature

SUMMARY

Zomato's new feature allows scheduling of orders up to 2 days in advance for orders above INR 1,000.

The feature is currently available in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Lucknow and Jaipur, and will eventually be rolled out for all orders.

The development comes days after Zomato shut down its intercity delivery offering Legends.

Continuing its series of experiments, foodtech giant Zomato has introduced a new feature which allows users to schedule food orders up to two days in advance.

Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal took to X to announce the launch of the new feature.

Plan your meals better by placing an order up to 2 days in advance, and we’ll deliver right on time. For now, scheduling is available for orders above INR 1,000, at around 13,000 outlets across Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Lucknow and Jaipur,” Goyal said in a post.

The CEO said that new restaurants and cities are being added and the order scheduling feature would eventually be extended to all orders.

The development comes days after Zomato shut down its intercity delivery offering Legends

The launch of the new feature is in line with Zomato’s strategy of experimenting with new offerings for customers as well as its restaurant partners. Last month, the company rolled out a loyalty programme for select restaurants and began facilitating income tax return (ITR) filings for its delivery partners.

Prior to that, it also launched a large order fleet and expanded its ‘Zomato Everyday’ offering.

Zomato is currently on an expansion spree. While it continues to strengthen the network of its quick commerce platform Blinkit and expand its product range, the company has been testing new features for the food delivery segment.

Amid all these, Zomato has also set its sights on scaling up its ‘going-out’ business. As part of this, the company announced earlier this week that it would acquire the entertainment ticketing business of troubled fintech giant Paytm for INR 2,048 Cr.

Zomato is looking to make going out the third biggest revenue generating B2C vertical. For this, the company plans to launch a separate app ‘District’. With the acquisition of Paytm’s ticketing business, Zomato is looking to make District a ‘super brand’

The expansion spree also comes at a time when Zomato has been improving its financials every quarter. The company first turned profitable in Q1 FY24 and has seen a rise in its net profit every quarter since then.

In Q1 FY25, Zomato reported a consolidated net profit of INR 253 Cr as against a profit of INR 2 Cr in Q1 FY24. Revenue from operations jumped 74% year-on-year to INR 4,206 Cr during the quarter under review.
