SUMMARY

As part of the partnership, DTC and Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) bus services are integrated with the ONDC

With this, passengers can purchase bus tickets via UPI payments via the One Delhi app on the ONDC

Other apps like Chartr, Tummoc and WhatsApp, which currently allow booking DTC tickets, will also be soon integrated with the ONDC network

Continuing its expansion in the mobility space, the state-backed Open Network Digital Commerce (ONDC) has entered into a partnership with Delhi Transport  Corporation (DTC) to facilitate digital QR ticketing.

As part of the partnership, both DTC and Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) bus services are integrated with the ONDC.

With this, passengers can purchase bus tickets via UPI payments via the One Delhi app on the ONDC. In a statement, ONDC also said that the users of the app will soon be able to book ride-hailing services such as autos and cabs through the network.

Meanwhile, other apps like Chartr, Tummoc and WhatsApp, which currently allow booking DTC tickets, will also be soon integrated with the ONDC network, it said.

“Other upcoming buyer applications set to join include EaseMyTrip, Paytm, and redBus, further expanding the accessibility and convenience of public transportation ticketing in the capital city,” the statement added.

The development is in line with ONDC’s mobility push, under which it is offering ride-hailing services across 12 cities – Delhi, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Kochi, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Tumkur, Hyderabad, Asansol, Siliguri, and Trichy. Besides, ONDC also took metro rail ticketing services live in 2 cities, Chennai and Kochi, earlier this year.

“The integration of DTC and DIMTS services onto the ONDC Network marks another significant milestone in our journey to revolutionise urban mobility. Following the successful integration of Chennai Metro, Kochi Metro, and on-demand ride-hailing services, this addition further expands our multimodal offerings,” ONDC CEO T Koshy said.

ONDC is gradually expanding its offerings and services with an eye on democratising ecommerce and increasing its penetration. In July, it launched an interoperable QR code to empower every seller, from local artisans to neighbourhood shopkeepers.

Last month, it ventured into the fintech space with the introduction of 6-minute loan services on select buyer apps on the network. Besides, it also revealed plans to launch insurance and mutual fund products in the coming two months.

ONDC crossed 12 Mn monthly ecommerce transactions in July, of which 4.4 Mn came from the mobility domain. Currently, there are 99 apps on the network – 24 buyer apps and 75 seller apps. ONDC is currently live in over 611 cities.
