Looking at the popularity of the Nokia’s first ‘Nokia Lumia – Your Wish is My App’ competition, the company has announced the second edition of the app challenge.
The first edition was launched back in December 2012, it allows participants to submit mobile application ideas that would be developed into successful apps for the Windows Phone Store, if it wins.
The last edition of the competition, got over 38,000 app ideas, out of which over top 2,000 ideas were shown to the developers and around 1,200 ideas are converted into apps, which are now live. Moreover, around 300 more will be live by February.
For this year, the show expects to get over 50,000 app ideas.
Announcing this season of Nokia Lumia-Your Wish is My App, P. Balaji, Managing Director, Nokia India, said “App culture today is a way of living. Superior smartphones, constant connection to Internet and great content has ensured that apps have woven themselves ever deeper into our daily routines. At Nokia we have constantly worked towards accelerating consumption of apps, whether through introducing innovative smart devices, building a robust ecosystem of developers or lowering cost of accessibility for users.”
How to participate?
- One can log on to – Nokia India FB page or can even submit idea Via Twitter and tag it with #YourWishIsMyApp.
- Applicants can also SMS their ideas to 55555.
The entries will be accepted from all over the world and the shortlisted contestants will fly to India.
Nokia will also ask for innovative ideas during Social Media Week 2014, which is scheduled to take place February 17-21 in Bangalore, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Lagos, Milan, New York and Tokyo.
The panel of the judges includes Vishal Gondal, Entrepreneur and angel investor; Sanjeev Bickhchandani, Founder and Executive VP, naukri.com, and Vikas Khanna, a New York based Michelin Starred Celebrity Chef.
The company has tied up with NDTV making it the first reality show on apps. The 30 shortlisted apps will be showcased in a nine-episode reality TV show which will be aired on NDTV starting mid-March.
The winner will be awarded with Rs10 lakh, and the two runners up each will get Rs 5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh each and 3 lucky winners will stand a chance to win the Nokia Lumia 1520.
So all you need to do is: think of a great app idea, share it with Nokia and they’’ll make it for you.
