NextLeap upskills professionals to transition into technology roles, while PM School helps product managers chart out a structured path into the industry

NextLeap plans to build a more accessible and effective product management education ecosystem in India

Founded in 2021 by former Flipkart leaders, NextLeap aims to build a more accessible product management education ecosystem

Bengaluru-based workforce skilling platform NextLeap, which helps professionals transition into technology roles, has acquired PM School, a product management education provider.

The acquisition is likely to strengthen NextLeap’s product management training capabilities and provide learners with more resources, mentorship, and career support. The deal is in line with the company’s plans to build a more accessible and effective product management education ecosystem in India, according to a statement from the company.

NextLeap, founded in 2021 by former Flipkart leaders Arindam Mukherjee and Mohammad Yasir, secured $2 Mn in seed funding in 2021. It enjoys support from investors such as InfoEdge Ventures, Mukesh Bansal, founder of Meraki Labs, cofounder of Myntra and Cult.fit, Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CRED chief executive Kunal Shah, and Amar Nagaram, CEO and founder of Virgio.

“Product management is a growing function in tech, but many professionals struggle to break into the field due to a lack of structured and practical learning. PM School has built a strong foundation in this space, and by coming together, we can bridge this gap at scale,” the statement quoted NextLeap co-founder and chief executive Mukherjee as saying.

NextLeap offers bootcamp-style fellowship programmes in product management, UX design, data analytics, and software engineering. NextLeap was recognised as one of the Top 100 EdTech startups in South Asia by HolonIQ in 2022.

Ankit Bareja, Nikunj Sharma and Kushaal Devanahalli had founded PM School to give aspiring product managers a structured path into the industry. “After 4.5 years of helping learners break into product management, we’re excited to see PM School continue its journey with NextLeap. This transition ensures our learners will have access to more resources, deeper mentorship, and a stronger bridge between learning and employment,” said the statement.

NextLeap CTO Yasir believes that by combining PM School’s reach and expertise with its AI-driven learning platform, NextLeap will be able to build a system that is more practical, hands-on, and aligned with industry needs. “Our goal is simple, to help more people build the skills they need and connect them with the right opportunities.”

The Indian edtech space is on a swing, according to Inc42’s Indian Tech Startup Funding Report, with startups raising over $568 million in 2024, a significant increase from $283 million a year back. The booming industry is on course to reach $29 Bn by 2030.
