Deeptech startup NeoSapien has raised $2 Mn (INR 18 Cr) in its seed funding round led by early-stage venture capital (VC) firm Merak Ventures. Angel investors including boAt’s cofounder Sameer Mehta, Pixxel’s founder Awais Ahmed, Shaadi.com’s Anupam Mittal, Emcure Pharmaceuticals’s Namita Thapar, ex-Koo CEO Aprameya Radhakrishna (CEO, Koo), amongst others, also participated in the round.

The startup, which builds AI-powered wearables that analyse the wearer’s emotions, plans to utilise the fresh capital to accelerate product development, enhance marketing and hire across functions. It is also looking to expand internationally on the back of partnerships with Google AI Academy and Panasonic Ignition Program.

Priced at INR 12,000, Neo1 is available for purchase on its website as well as other ecommerce platforms like Amazon.

Beyond Neo1, the startup plans to utilise Neo1’s operating system (OS) layer to power independent AI assistants that can power other wearable devices like smartglasses, smartwatches and rings. Further, its NeoCore SDK will also allow businesses to build applications on top of its base intelligence layer.

NeoSapien’s fundraise comes at a time when wearable devices coming out of India’s new-age tech ecosystem are at the front and centre of startup discourse. Debates around the same picked up significantly after Eternal CEO Deepinder Goyal teased his new business, Temple, an experimental brain blood-flow wearable.

Besides, a plethora of other startups like Ultrahuman, Sychedelic, Gabit have also come to the limelight recently. This trend mirrors global trends, but with uniquely local startups pushing the frontier of what wearables can measure and achieve.

The global smart wearables market size accounted for $86.65 Bm in 2025 and is predicted to reach around $431.74 Bn by 2034, growing at a CAGR of 20% between the period.
