Nazara Publishing, a division of Nazara Technologies, said that its Indian multiplayer shooter game ‘FAU-G: Domination’ has seen over a million pre-registrations on the Google Play Store within just three weeks.
The pre-registrations for the game started on September 5. The listed gaming major claimed that FAU-G: Domination became its fastest game to reach the 1 Mn mark. The exact release date for FAU-G: Domination has not been announced yet.
Pre-registrations for FAU-G: Domination are only live on the Google Play Store as of now. The company said that pre-registrations on the Apple’s App Store will commence soon.
In June, Nazara Publishing partnered with mobile game developer nCore Games for a new iteration of the game. Its prior iteration, which was developed by nCore’s gaming studio Dot9 Game, was released in 2021 and saw players take up the role of Indian soldiers in a 5v5 shooting scenario. It was taken down from the Google Play Store and App Store in 2024 after nCore partnered with Nazara.
Since then, Nazara Publishing has undertaken a marketing campaign to increase pre-registrations for the game. For this, it partnered with some of India’s top content creators and influencers while also offering generous pre-registration bonuses.
“Hitting this milestone so quickly is a powerful testament to the growing demand for high-quality, Made-in-India content,” nCore Games cofounder Vishal Gondal said.
Nazara launched its game publishing division, Nazara Publishing in October last year to foray into game development. Back then, Nazara said it will invest a minimum of INR 1 Cr and aims to release up to 20 games within a year-and-a-half of the subsidiary’s incorporation. It has launched games like Gravity Shooter, World Cricket League, and Hacked: Password Puzzle, among others.
Besides strengthening its game publishing play, Nazara has been focusing on building a holistic gaming ecosystem. Under this, it has been on an acquisition spree. Earlier this month, Nazara entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a 47.7% stake in Moonshine Technology, the parent company of online poker platform PokerBaazi, for INR 831.5 Cr.
In August, it announced plans to acquire insolvency-ridden sports entertainment startup Smaaash Entertainment. Besides, it also announced the acquisition of UK-based gaming studio Fusebox Games for INR 228 Cr last month.
On the financial front, Nazara managed to improve its bottom line in Q1 FY25, with net profit rising almost 13% to INR 23.6 Cr from INR 20.9 Cr in the previous year’s quarter. However, operating revenue declined 1.7% year-on-year (YoY) to INR 250.1 Cr during the quarter under review, hurt by degrowth witnessed by two of its verticals – gaming and adtech.
Shares of the gaming major ended today’s trading session 0.5% higher at INR 984.60 on the BSE.
