Sinha’s elevation came after Flipkart vice president and head of fashion vertical Arief Mohamad quit the company
The ecommerce major said that Flipkart Fashion and Myntra will continue to operate as separate entities under Sinha’s leadership
An alumni of IIT-BHU and FMS Delhi, Sinha joined Flipkart in 2013. She was appointed Myntra CEO in 2022
In a major top-level rejig at Flipkart, Myntra CEO Nandita Sinha has been entrusted the additional responsibility of helming the operations of Flipkart Fashion.
The development came after Flipkart vice president and head of fashion vertical Arief Mohamad quit the company.
“Nandita Sinha, CEO, Myntra will take additional responsibility of leading Flipkart Fashion alongside her current role at Myntra. A seasoned leader and group veteran, she has been instrumental in driving the growth of numerous businesses within the Flipkart ecosystem. Under her leadership, Myntra has solidified its position in the fashion industry, while also paving its path for the next phase of growth,” said a Flipkart Group spokesperson.
The spokesperson added that Flipkart Fashion and Myntra will continue to operate as separate entities under Sinha’s leadership.
For the uninitiated, Myntra is largely targeted at premium users while Flipkart Fashion caters to the ecommerce major’s value-conscious customers.
Sinha’s elevation comes more than a decade after she first joined Flipkart as associate director of health and beauty vertical in 2013. Since then, she has grown through the ranks at the ecommerce major. She was appointed as the CEO of fashion ecommerce platform Myntra in 2022.
An alumni of IIT-BHU and Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi, Sinha previously also served in various capacities at Unilever and Britannia.
On the other hand, Mohamad quit after a nine-year stint at the ecommerce major. He joined Flipkart in 2015 as the head of kids, beauty, women accessories and footwear segments. He was elevated to the role of head of Flipkart Fashion in November 2023.
The latest developments come at a time when the competition in the ecommerce space is on the rise. Besides rivals like Amazon and Meesho, Flipkart is also facing competition from quick commerce players. The Walmart-owned company is now preparing to enter the quick commerce fray.
It has also been aggressively shoring up its fashion play, as evident from the company pumping in $54 Mn in Myntra earlier this year. It also launched FlipInTrends to offer Made-in-India fashion brands to its customers in April this year.
