The popular notion of women driving shopping trends was applicable only till the time ecommerce didn’t exist in our lives and now men can be as lazy as they want and still shop for themselves.

Apps Only Online Stores. Yay or Nay?
Ecommerce players now make their platform app only given the increasing use of mobile and its ease of access. Findings reveal that 51% women don’t believe that this move affects their shopping habits. Men on the other hand like to stay old school with 56% disagreeing with the move.
Women prefer ‘Cash on Delivery’, men don’t mind going the e-way
Survey results show that men prefer to make online transactions with 43 % preferring debit cards whereas for women, Cash on delivery is the most popular mode with 41%.
Categories they are wary of shopping online
Men are most skeptical of buying real estate online with 40% tipping it as their most wary category. While 60% women still don’t trust online portals for purchasing expensive jewelry. Whereas 26% males are wary of buying medicines online while on the other hand only 7% women eschew from buying medicines online.
Women shop more, having a bigger average ticket size
The average ticket size for women is between INR 5000/- & INR 10,000/-, while the average ticket size for men stands between INR 2000/- & INR 5000/- .Even though men make more online transactions than women, women have a higher average order value on online shopping.
Whom do they primarily shop for?
Men and women not only have different patterns, they also differ when it comes to shopping online for someone else. While 30% men shop for themselves, 45% women do so. Survey revealed that around 25% women shopped for their spouse while 42% men do the same.
Encouragement To Shop Online
Men and women seem to be encouraged to shop online by same things- cashback, coupons and discounts. While 38% men shop because of discounts which can be availed online, only 31% women shop because of discounts. The main reason for women was Cashback & coupons with 41% women shopping because of them and 35% of men for same.
