KiranaPro Joins ONDC To Scale Quick Commerce Business

Quick commerce startup KiranaPro has become India’s first ONDC-integrated platform that can tap into a network of over 7 Lakh registered vendors across the country.

The Bengaluru-based company will launch operations in Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram this month, followed by deeper expansion into Kerala. The company has onboarded or tied up with about 30,000 stores and plans to scale further, it said in a press statement.

“Being directly integrated into ONDC positions us to rapidly scale our operations,” KiranaPro cofounder and chief executive Deepak Ravindran was quoted as saying in the statement. “Our voice-integrated platform will particularly help customers in smaller cities access services typically limited to larger markets.”

Unlike other quick commerce players that use dark stores, Thrissur-based KiranaPro connects neighbourhood mom-and-pop stores directly with customers. Founded in 2024 by Deepak Ravindran and Dipankar Sarkar, the company’s AI-driven interface helps small retailers manage digital operations while offering flexible revenue models, including daily rates and per-lead fees.

ONDC chief executive T Koshy said KiranaPro’s integration shows how innovative solutions can be built on open networks. “The future of India’s digital economy lies in creating interoperable, scalable networks, rather than closed ecosystems,” he said.

The move comes days after KiranaPro acquired hyperlocal delivery platform Joper.app to strengthen its presence across 25 cities. The combined entity now aims to enable 10-minute deliveries through its expanded network.

“As the only 100% ONDC-powered quick commerce platform in India, we’re using AI to reach millions of customers,” Sarkar said in the statement, adding that the integration would help small retailers compete with larger players.

The integration aligns with the government’s push to build public digital infrastructure like UPI and Aadhaar. India’s quick commerce sector is expected to grow 75% year-on-year by the end of this year, with platforms expanding beyond groceries into new categories and in tier II cities.

ONDC hosts over 7 Lakh sellers and service providers across 609 cities. The network recorded 173.5 Mn transactions until January 2024, with more than 20 apps processing over 1,000 transactions daily.

ONDC recently postponed its planned transaction fee implementation to April 1, 2025. The network had earlier announced a fee of INR 1.50 for transactions above INR 250, which would also apply to KiranaPro’s operations on the platform.

The government has launched a INR 277.35 Cr initiative called MSME Trade Enablement And Marketing (TEAM) to add 5 lakh more MSMEs to ONDC, with a special focus on women-led businesses.
