Jio Unveils AI-Powered Smart Glasses ‘Jio Frames’

Jio unveiled its AI-powered smart glasses ‘Jio Frames’ during Reliance Industries Ltd’s (RIL’s) 48th annual general meeting today. 

Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, said Jio Frames will allow users to take HD photos, record videos or go live while all the data gets instantly stored on Jio’s AI cloud. The AI-powered spectacles will also allow users to speak with Jio’s AI voice-assistant in multiple Indian languages. 

However, the company didn’t give a timeline for the product to hit the market.

Jio also unveiled its next generation Jio AI Cloud, which will allow users retrieve photos and other files by speaking in their language. Not just that, the AI cloud will also help users create shareable reels and collages without much expertise and skills. 

The company also gave a demo of its JioPC during the AGM today. The offering comes bundled for free with Reliance Jio’s broadband service and can also be purchased separately for INR 5,499. 

“For the first time, anyone in India can tap into high-performance compute on demand. You can go from creating documents to running advanced simulations – all on the same JioPC. We are partnering with leading providers to bring a rich library of out-of-the-box, market-leading applications and powerful AI tools to boost your productivity and creativity,” Ambani said.

Meanwhile, RIL chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani said that the company is focussing on developing deeptech innovations. 

“We are resolutely transforming our operating model to become a deeptech company with advanced manufacturing capabilities. We are making every one of our businesses AI native, positioning them for hyper growth, our corporate philosophy of ‘we care’ compels us to continuously improve the quality of our products and services in ways that promote the well being of both people and planet,” he said.

While the announcement of the Jio IPO by H1 2026 was the biggest news from the AGM, AI emerged as the recurrent theme.

RIL announced the incorporation of a new wholly owned AI subsidiary, Reliance Intelligence, which will build AI services for India. The company also announced a partnership with Google for AI.

Besides, RIL will form a joint venture with Meta to propel its AI ambitions. The JV will leverage Meta’s open-source Llama models to create AI solutions tailored for specific business needs in areas like sales, marketing, IT, customer service, finance, among others.
