Online classified company Info Edge’s consolidated net profit zoomed over 141% to INR 288.41 Cr in the December quarter of the financial year 2024-25 (Q3 FY25) from INR 119.44 Cr in the year-ago quarter, driven by consistent performance across all four verticals.
On a quarter-on-quarter basis, net profit skyrocketed 240% from INR 84.73 Cr.
The Sanjeev Bikhchadani-led company incurred an exceptional loss of INR 45.76 Cr in the reported quarter. Including this exceptional loss, profit stood at INR 242.65 Cr in Q3 FY25.
Operating revenue surged 15% to INR 722.39 Cr during the quarter under review from INR 627.12 Cr in the year-ago period. Sequentially, it rose a little over 3% from 700.82 Cr.
Founded in 1995 by Bikhchandani, Info Edge is one of India’s oldest internet-based companies, which operates across sectors such as recruitment (Naukri), real estate (99acres), matrimony (Jeevansathi) and education (Shiksha).
It counts listed giants such as foodtech major Zomato, insurtech startup PB Fintech, and unlisted edtech company Adda247 among its portfolio companies.
Ahead of the Q3 earnings announcement, Info Edge’s board approved the company’s first-ever stock split in the ratio of 1:5.
“In Q3, we achieved 16% billing growth, driven by consistent performance across all four verticals. Our recruitment business continued its growth trajectory across all segments, contributing to improved operating profits. Additionally, the non-recruitment businesses are also nearing breakeven, further strengthening our position for sustained growth,” said Info Edge managing director and CEO Hitesh Oberoi.
Segment Revenue
The company’s revenue from recruitment services (Naukri) rose 12% to INR 527.03 Cr in the reported quarter from INR 469.33 Cr in Q3 FY24. Sequentially, it rose a little over 2% from INR 515.09 Cr in the quarter ended September 2024.
Its real estate vertical 99acres generated revenues to the tune of INR 104.16 Cr in the September to December quarter, a 17% jump from INR 88.76 Cr in the year-ago quarter. On a QoQ basis, it rose 2% from INR 102.03 Cr.
Revenue from other businesses, including education and matrimony, surged 32% to INR 91.19 Cr in Q3 FY25 from INR 69.02 Cr in the year-ago period. Sequentially, it increased by nearly 9% from INR 83.69 Cr.
Where Did Info Edge Spend In Q3?
Despite the surge in revenue, the internet company managed to control the rise in expenditure. Total expenses rose a little under 7% to INR 486.82 Cr in the quarter ended December 2024 from INR 455.02 Cr in the year-ago quarter.
Employee Costs: This was the biggest expense head for Info Edge in Q3 FY25. The company spent INR 305.58 Cr on employee benefit expenses during the quarter under review, up 10% from INR 278.41 Cr in Q3 FY24. However, sequentially, employee costs declined marginally from INR 305.78 Cr.
Ad Expenses: The spending under this bucket declined 5% year-on-year and 10% QoQ to INR 81.89 Cr in the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal year.
IT Expenses: Info Edge spent INR 19.80 Cr on the network, internet, and other related expenses in the reported quarter, up 6% from INR 18.69 Cr in Q3 FY24.
Shares of Info Edge gained momentum after the company’s robust Q3 performance. At 3:15 PM, the stock was trading 3.24% higher at INR 7,953.30 apiece on the BSE on Wednesday.
