HRS Navigation Bags $5 Mn To Scale Surgical Navigation Tech

Medtech startup HRS (Happy Reliable Surgeries) Navigation has raised $5 Mn (about INR 44.3 Cr) in its Pre-Series A funding round led by GVFL, Physis Capital and Sathguru Catalysers. The round also saw participation from India EXIM Bank and KITVEN.

The startup plans on deploying the fresh capital to boost its manufacturing abilities, fuel product innovations and expand globally. 

Founded in 2015 by Arpit Paliwal and Shweta Paliwal, HRS Navigation claims to be India’s first surgical navigation technology company. The Bengaluru-based startup develops image-guided surgical systems that act like a GPS for surgeons operating inside the human body. 

Its flagship product line, easyNav, provides real-time visual guidance during complex brain, spine and ENT (ear, nose and throat) surgeries. The visual assistance allows  doctors to see the exact position of their instruments relative to a patient’s anatomy.

The startup offers hospitals two surgical system platforms – easyNav Infinity and easyNav 2.0. easyNav Infinity uses advanced sensors and software to improve surgical precision while integrating with operating-room equipment. It caters to both large tertiary hospitals and smaller regional centres aiming to modernise their neurosurgery or spine units.

Meanwhile, easyNav 2.0 optical neurosurgical navigation system designed to improve accuracy and precision during neurosurgical procedure. Overall, the startup claims that its offerings have assisted in over 20,000 surgeries across 20 states in India. Its client base features prominent hospital chains like Apollo Hospitals, Sahyadri Hospitals, Ramakrishna Care Hospitals, among others.

“Our mission is to make advanced surgical navigation accessible to every hospital and surgeon, so that patients across India and beyond can benefit from precision surgery. With this investment, we are not only strengthening our ability to innovate and expand internationally but also showcasing India’s capability to develop world-class medtech solutions,” Paliwal said.

The investment is in line with investors backing promising Indian healthcare startups who have been integrating tech to smoothen critical surgeries as well as routine procedures. 

For instance, Reveal Healthtech, a startup that provides specialised engineering, clinical model, and strategy support to healthcare organisations, bagged $7.2 Mn  earlier in September. 

Besides, Bengaluru-based deeptech startup Theranautilus, a startup that is developing magnetic nanorobots for precise oral & dental treatments, raised $1.2 Mn about a year-ago from investors like pi Ventures and Golden Sparrow Ventures.

In the case of HRS, such navigation systems in India have been expensive imports dominated by global medical device majors. HRS Navigation’s solution is built and manufactured in India, designed specifically for local hospital conditions — compact, affordable, and free of consumable parts, which dramatically reduces the cost per surgery.

By localising production and simplifying usage, the startup bids to address two critical gaps in India’s medtech space: affordability and accessibility of high-end surgical technology. As demand for precision surgery rises, the startup aims to position itself as India’s homegrown alternative to imported navigation systems, blending medical innovation with cost efficiency.
