GreenFi Raises $2 Mn Seed Funding To Scale AI-Driven ESG Risk Platform

AI-enabled ESG risk management platform GreenFi has raised $2 Mn (INR 17.7 Cr) in a seed funding round led by Transition VC, with participation from undisclosed angel investors.

The Singapore-headquartered startup said it will deploy the fresh funds to scale its global distribution network, enhance AI product capabilities, and expand operations across California, Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Founded in 2023 by Barun Chandran, GreenFi provides a SaaS-based AI platform that enables financial institutions and corporates to identify, monitor and manage environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks, opportunities and compliance obligations.

The platform aggregates ESG-related data from multiple sources — including annual reports, corporate disclosures, alternative datasets and media coverage — into a single, unified interface.

Using no-code AI modules that combine deep learning, natural language and entity processing, GreenFi helps clients conduct ESG due diligence, screen supply chain partners, and generate decision-support insights.

The startup currently serves clients across Singapore, India, Europe and the US, including United Overseas Bank (UOB), Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), and Wattsun Energy.

GreenFi has also participated in global innovation programmes such as the UN Climate Tech Accelerator 2024, G20 TechSprint Brazil, RBIH Frictionless Finance Accelerator, and the UOB FinLab GreenTech Accelerator.

GreenFi’s funding comes at a time when AI-powered sustainability and climate intelligence tools are seeing heightened investor attention. According to industry estimates, the global ESG software market is projected to exceed $5 Bn by 2033, driven by stricter compliance norms, investor scrutiny and demand for data transparency.

In India, the cleantech and ESG-focused SaaS ecosystem is gaining momentum, fuelled by the government’s emphasis on sustainable and green growth. Earlier this year, for instance, EcoRatings, another AI-led cleantech startup, raised $1 Mn in a mix of equity and grants from We Founder Circle, 888 VC, Vinners, Indigram Labs Foundation and Google.
