Eyeing to tap on the growing demand for electric vehicle servicing propelled by the rapid electric mobility adoption in India, car servicing startup Gomechanic is gearing up to roll out dedicated EV workshops across key metro cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad among others, soon.

While the company did not disclose the exact date of the launch, but said that it aims to set up 100 EV-focused workshops by the financial year 2024-25 (FY25) end and double down the numbers by FY26.

Additionally, GoMechanic also targets servicing 10,000 EVs by March next year.

“These workshops will be equipped with cutting-edge technology, including real-time diagnostics, battery health monitoring, and AI-powered predictive maintenance, ensuring the highest level of service for EV owners,” GoMechanic’s cofounder Muskan Kakkarb said.

“Our goal is to not only expand our service network but also to become a trusted partner for fleet operators and individual EV owners alike, offering cost-effective and efficient solutions tailored specifically for electric vehicles,” another cofounder Hinamshu Aroira added.

For the uninitiated, GoMechanic partnered with MoEVing, a fleet operator focused on electric mobility, to launch EV service for fleet operators in December last year.

So far it has provided services to major EV players like BluSmart, MoEVing, Zypp Electric and Evera in both their 3 and 4-wheeler segments.

Notably, GoMechanic was acquired by Lifelong Group’s Servizzy in March last year after facing financial difficulties and scrutiny from authorities.

Back then, Arora and Muskan Kakkar took over the operations of the startup.

Since then, the company has been looking to stabilise its operations and it turned EBITDA-positive in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25). GoMechnanic claimed that it clocked a revenue of INR 85 Cr in the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year.

In November last year, the startup raised $6 Mn in a round led by an undisclosed family office, which also saw participation from other existing investors, including Stride Ventures.

The car servicing startup is also doubling down on its new offerings. It opened 11 Luxe stores, offering servicing to luxury cars, in FY24.

Originally founded in 2016 by Amit Bhasin, Kushal Karwa, Nitin Rana and Rishabh Karwa, GoMechanic landed in trouble last year after cofounder Bhasin publicly admitted to fudging numbers, which led to an investor-led forensic audit into the company.

The cofounders allegedly falsified bank statements, inflated revenues, and siphoned off money as early as GoMechanic’s seed funding round in 2017.

Afterwards, the Economic Offences Wing (EoW) of the Delhi Police lodged an FIR against the four original cofounders and key management personnel (KMP) for alleged fraud and cheating based on a complaint filed by GoMechanic’s key investors in June 2023.
