[Funding Galore] From BYJU’S To DeHaat — $503 Mn Raised By Indian Startups This Week

The Indian startup ecosystem raised around $503 Mn across 31 deals between October 17 and 22, 2022

The week saw V-Mart acquiring LimeRoad for INR 31.12 Cr

Yellow.ai has launched an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) worth $43 Mn for its global workforce

Further continuing the funding force, Indian startups in the third week of October raised $503 Mn across 31 deals. This is a 61% increase from the previous week where the startups raised $312 Mn across 31 deals. This is a further 267% jump from the previous week where the ecosystem raised a total of  $137 Mn across 14 deals

In this week, edtech giant BYJU’S raised the biggest round of funding. Byju Raveendran-led edtech startup raised $250 Mn from its existing investors. BYJU’S fundraising was followed by EV scooter maker Ather which raised $50 Mn from Caladium Investment. Third comes the agritech startup DeHaat which raised $46 Mn from Sofina Ventures, along with other existing investors. 

Antler India was the most active investor of the week as it had participated in three deals.

  • Mumbai-based Alteria Capital has launched INR 1,000 Cr debt fund in participation with large family offices, founders, senior professionals, among others 
  • Avatar Venture has launched a $350 Mn new fund and will invest in B2B tech and SaaS sectors
  • Indian government to set up an INR 500 Cr startup accelerator to help in scaling agritech startups in the country 
  • OLA’s backer Edelweiss has launched $361 Mn debt fund and named it Edelweiss Crossover Yield Opportunities Fund
  • Indian Angel Network has launched its new IAN Alpha Fund, worth INR 1,000 Cr for early stage startups
  • Silverneedle Ventures has launched an early-stage tech-focussed VC fund worth $12 Mn to invest in 30 early stage startups
