Days after launching ‘Minutes’, Flipkart announces the launch of its two new fulfilment centres in Uttar Pradesh

Days after foraying into the quick commerce space with ‘Minutes’ service, ecommerce major Flipkart has announced launch of its two new fulfilment centres in Uttar Pradesh.
This move comes ahead of the company’s Big Billion Day sale, which will kick off from October 8 and will continue till 15th of the month.
According to Flipkart, these two technologically-equipped centres include a fulfilment and sortation centre in Unnao and a sortation and grocery fulfilment centre in Varanasi.
It further added that the new fulfilment centres aim to streamline delivery times and increase efficiency across multiple pincodes while creating over 3,600 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
The company also said that the new grocery fulfilment centre in Varanasi and the non-large facility in Unnao will provide an expansive selection of products to its customers, ranging from local to established brands.
“These fulfilment centres are not only generating large-scale employment but also empowering the state’s MSME units by providing them with a pan-India reach. Millions of customers can benefit from Flipkart’s advanced supply chain, which seamlessly processes a large number of orders every day,” said chief minister Yogi Adityanath, while inaugurating the new centres in UP.
In December last year, the company launched its grocery fulfilment centre in Bhubaneswar to cater to its online grocery customers across cities like Asika, Basta, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhanekal, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Talcher.
Flipkart currently has 25 grocery fulfilment centres, and it claims that it caters to over 1,800 cities and 10,000 PIN codes across the country.
Additionally, Rajneesh Kumar, chief corporate affairs officer at Flipkart Group said that with the ecommerce company’s strategic investments in the state and Flipkart’s wide marketplace ecosystem, it aims to strengthen local communities, MSMEs, farmers, and ancillary businesses by supporting their digital transformation journey.
