A fire broke out on Wednesday (October 18) in a cafe on the fourth floor of a commercial building in Koramangala, Bengaluru which also houses a gym of fitness startup Cult.fit.
The fire was caused by cylinder blasts in the cafe – Mudpipe Cafe, Inc42 has learnt.
As per videos circulating on social media, a person was seen jumping from the fourth floor of the building to escape the fire. The person has been shifted to a hospital for treatment. No casualties have been reported.
The local police reached the area, along with the fire department officials, to rescue people. The police also cordoned off the nearby area. Police officers at the site told Inc42 that no equipment at Cult.fit was damaged by the fire.
In a message sent to the members, Cult.fit said the gym has been closed temporarily and the startup would extend the membership of the members by five days each.
The commercial building also has a NEXA automobile showroom on the ground floor.
The police also evacuated people from the building next to the affected one. The building houses offices of self-publishing platform Pratilipi, edtech startup Newton School, and short video platform ShareChat.
