Wishberry, The Kickstarter Of India, Raises INR 1 Cr. Through TiEcon’s Live Funding Event

Mumbai based crowdfunding platform, Wishberry, is raising over INR 4 Cr. in a funding round led by Rajan Anandan, MD & VP, Google India and Sharad Sharma, Orbit Change Catalyst and Angel Investor. Out of the total INR 4 Cr, the startup has gotten a commitment of approx INR 1 Cr. from Navyug Mohnot, Deepak Goel, Dinesh Agarwal, Sunil Kalra and others during TIE THE KNOT, the live funding event organized by TiE Delhi at TiEcon 2014.

Wishberry is a rewards-based crowdfunding platform for raising funds for creative and innovative projects. It allows people to pitch their projects to friends, family, fans and everyone else out there who can contribute funds for their projects/dreams.

Wishberry has raised over INR 3.5 Cr. for 150 projects, from 8,500+ funders across the world. Projects spanning across Arts, Film, Theatre, Music, Tech, Gaming, Publishing and Apps get funded on the platform.

Apart from general project fans, industry leaders like Vishal Dadlani, Vishal Gondal, Bejoy Nambiar and Shankar Mahadevan have also discovered interesting projects on Wishberry and have funded them. Companies like P&G and Universal Music have handpicked interesting projects too & have taken them to the next level of growth.

While many call Wishberry the Kickstarter of India, the platform has bigger plans. With crowdfunding, Wishberry wants to spur innovation & creativity in India and then also spread to other developing ‘countries like Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

“The vision is simple – To become the platform where the world discovers creativity and innovation coming out of India,” Anshulika Dubey, Co-Founder, Wishberry.

The founders, Priyanka Agarwal and Anshulika Dubey, have previously worked at McKinsey. Priyanka is an Engineering and Management graduate from Wharton and Anshulika is an English Literature graduate from Miranda House.

Catapoolt is yet another crowdfunding platform in India which had raised funding from Venture Nursery along-with Calcutta Angels, ah! Angels and few others individual investors in April this year.
