Ex-Force Motors Executive Mohit Sharma Joins EKA Mobility As CHRO

Electric vehicle manufacturer EKA Mobility has onboarded Mohit Sharma as its chief human resource officer (CHRO) to boost its people centric policies.

With more than 25 years of experience, Sharma joins the Pune-based startup from food and beverages firm Parle Agro where he served as the vice president of HR for more than a year.

He had also worked with other notable brands such as Whirlpool, Dabur and Force Motors.

In his new role, Sharma will help in strengthening EKA’s people-centric policies, nurturing work culture and talent management as well as driving employee satisfaction.

Founded in 2022 by Sudhir Mehta, EKA Mobility is a EV mobility manufacturer which has a range of offerings for its customers from electric buses, trucks and commercial vehicles for logistics and cargo purposes.

“Sharma’s deep HR expertise and leadership will be instrumental in strengthening our organisational culture and employee engagement as we continue to scale and drive innovation in the electric mobility sector,” said Mehta.

The appointment comes nearly nine months after EKA Mobility received a second tranche of investment of INR 200 Cr from Japanese trading and investment company Mitsui and Co. Ltd as part of an INR 850 Cr deal signed in 2023.

This comes at a time when the Indian startup ecosystem has been witnessing a major churn in leadership roles.

For instance, a few weeks back, logistics major Delhivery announced the appointment of Vani Venkatesh as its chief business officer to lead its transportation businesses. Earlier this year, fintech startup FlexiLoans roped in Hemant Saklecha and Pavan Matai as chief credit and risk officer and head of supply chain respectively.

On top of that, the investor ecosystem witnessed major exits in the recent past which includes Shraeyansh Thakur resigning from Peak XV marking the venture capital firm’s fifth major exit in the last one year. Elevation Capital’s Vivek Mathur also departed the VC firm a week back to focus on advisory and mentorship.

While the adoption of EV in India has seen a surge, investors have looked bearish on this sector. According to Inc42’s ‘India’s Electric Vehicle Startup Report 2025’, funding in the sector decelerated nearly 31% on a year-on-year basis to $624 Mn across 43 deals in 2024.

The Indian EV market which is projected to become a $132 Bn opportunity by 2030 saw $3.7 Bn of funding since 2014 and is home to more than 120 funded EV startups.
