EaseMyTrip Subsidiaries Secure Tender For Inter-City Electric Buses In Madhya Pradesh

Listed travel tech major Easemytrip said it has secured Madhya Pradesh government’s first inter-city electric buses tender via its subsidiaries YoloBus and Easy Green Mobility.

As a part of the tender which was issued by Sagar City Transport Services Ltd (SCTSL), the electric buses will be manufactured and operated by Easy Green Mobility and YoloBus, respectively. 

The timeline for the deployment of these buses is in August.

This comes a day after the company announced an initial investment of INR 200 Cr for the electric bus project in MP. The company plans to deploy 500 buses in 2025 and expand to 1,000 buses by 2026.

On the development, EaseMyTrip cofounder Rikant Pittie said, “Our entry into in-house electric bus manufacturing is a direct response to the strong demand we’ve observed through YoloBus. In a market where supply struggles to meet soaring demand, we recognised that this strategic shift was not just necessary to address immediate operational needs but also to capture a rapidly growing market.”

“With our new subsidiary, Easy Green Mobility, and an initial investment of INR 200 Cr, we are committed to setting new standards in sustainable transit and expanding our presence in the booming EV and eMobility sector,” the founder added. 

Intercity mobility startup YoloBus was acquired by EaseMyTrip in 2021. The acquisition included the brand name, technology, team, running business, and data expertise of YoloBus. 

While Easy Green Mobility launched in 2024 is EaseMyTrip’s venture into electric bus manufacturing. EaseMyTrip’s board last year approved an investment of INR 200 Cr for the development of Easy Green Mobility’s business and manufacturing plant. 

As part of its phased rollout, the company will launch 12-meter and 13.5-meter electric buses starting in August 2025, followed by the introduction of 9-meter electric buses by November-December 2025.
