DPIIT Partners SPF To Foster Partnerships In Indian Startup Ecosystem

SUMMARY

The two bodies aim to amplify innovation, drive technology adoption, boost manufacturing capabilities in India and facilitate relationships with international stakeholders and ecosystem enablers

The partnership will also see the two bodies join forces in the facilitation of a startup dialogue named SPF Startup Baithak

Launched last month by Shweta Rajpal Kohli, SPF aims to bridge the gap between founders, policymakers and regulators. It aims to support the government’s initiatives to position Indian startups on the global stage

Recently set up startup body Startup Policy Forum (SPF) has entered into a partnership with The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to further promote the world’s third largest startup ecosystem.

With this collaboration, the two bodies aim to amplify innovation, drive technology adoption, boost manufacturing capabilities in India and facilitate relationships with international stakeholders and ecosystem enablers.

In a joint statement, SPF and DPIIT said that they will be curating specialised immersive programmes, designed to connect global investors with India’s vibrant startup ecosystem.

Further, the partnership will also see the two bodies join forces in the facilitation of a startup dialogue named SPF Startup Baithak. The event is slated to take place at Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam on January 15-16, 2025 as part of the National Startup Week.

In a post on LinkedIn, DPIIT’s joint secretary Sanjiv remarked that the event will serve as a platform for new collaborations, global investor engagement and to showcase the innovations within the Indian startup ecosystem.

“This strategic collaboration with SPF underscores DPIIT’s unflinching commitment to create a congenial atmosphere where startups could thrive and contribute immensely to India’s mission of becoming a global innovation hub. The SPF members represent the essence of India’s entrepreneurial spirit and their participation in this mission will play a crucial role in achieving the goal of developing India by 2047,” Sanjiv said in his comment on the partnership.

SPF was established by ex-Peak XV chief public policy and communications officer Shweta Rajpal Kohli in December 2024 to bridge the gap between founders, policymakers and regulators. It aims to support the government’s initiatives to position Indian startups on the global stage.

It counts startup majors like Razorpay, CRED, Groww, Zerodha, Pine Labs, OYO, Acko, Swiggy, Dream11, Mobile Premier League (MPL), Livspace, Cars24, Cardekho, Mobikwik among others, as its members.

“This alliance is a testament to the shared vision of DPIIT and SPF to cultivate a resilient and thriving startup ecosystem. By fostering impactful collaborations, we aim to position India prominently on the global innovation map and empower entrepreneurs to unlock their full potential,” Kohli said on the alliance with DPIIT.

The partnership comes amid the central government’s ongoing campaign to further nurture the homegrown new age tech ecosystem. In recent months, the DPIIT has partnered with companies like HCLSoftware, Flipkart, bOAt, Tally, among others.

As of now, it is set to host the second edition of the annual Startup Mahakumbh event between April 4 and 6, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam.
