Zomato CEO and founder Deepinder Goyal has said that he wants to work with business and product leaders leveraging artificial intelligence as their second brain.

Inviting the individuals to reach him via mail, Goyal wrote in his X post, “I am looking to work with business and product leaders who have already started using AI as their second brain. If you are the one, please write to me at [email protected].”

This is not the first time Goyal introduced such hiring remarks over the X.

Even in 2024, Goyal sought a chief of staff with unusual conditions of donating INR 20 Lakh to charity as part of the application process.

A total of 10,000 applications were applied but the founder later retrieved saying that he was looking for genuine candidates who weren’t lured by money.

Last year, Zomato started deploying AI to offer convenience and personalisation to customers Via a chatbot or assistant called Zomato AI.

However, the company later in September banned the use of AI-generated images on its restaurant partners’ menus and marketing materials to prevent misleading advertisements.

Just a day ago the founder citing the shareholders’ letter underlined key details regarding the company’s delivery partners and their earnings in 2024.

He pointed out that over 15 Lakh partners chose to work with Zomato in 2024, earning an average monthly earnings reached approximately INR 28,000 for an 8-hour shift.

“Even when factoring in estimated fuel costs (around INR 5,000 per month), this income remains highly competitive compared to other available options to them,” Deepinder added.

The founder also mentioned that all delivery partners are automatically covered under Zomato’s delivery partner insurance policy, which includes benefits for accidents, death, and health-related issues. Notably, the company started piloting this insurance offering in 2022.

Mentioning the amount of claims paid annually, Goyal noted that the company paid out over INR 53 Cr annually in claims, with about 55% of these claims covering non-accident medical expenses.

It is pertinent to note that the Budget 2025 introduces a social security scheme for one crore gig workers engaged with online platforms. This initiative aims to provide these workers with identity cards and facilitate their registration on the e-Shram portal, which is designed for unorganised workers.

As a result, these gig workers will be able to reap the healthcare benefits under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), that offers coverage of up to INR 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation.
