Coldplay Concert Row: BookMyShow COO Appears Before Mumbai Police

SUMMARY

BookMyShow’s COO appeared before the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW)

Earlier today, EOW issued second summons to CEO Ashish Hemrajani and the technical head of the company

The summons were issued following a complaint by lawyer Amit Vyas, who accused BookMyShow of enabling the black market sale of tickets of Coldplay concert

After the first summons sent by the Mumbai Police to BookMyshow’s CEO Ashish Hemrajani went unanswered, the company’s COO Anil Makhija reportedly made an appearance before the police.

Makhija appeared before the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) earlier in the day, news agency ANI reported.

The development came shortly after it was reported that the EOW had issued a fresh summons to Hemrajani and the technical head of the company in connection with the ongoing probe into the alleged black marketing of Coldplay’s concert tickets earlier today.

The investigation into the matter was triggered by a complaint by lawyer Amit Vyas, who accused the company of enabling the black market sale of tickets for the highly anticipated Coldplay concert.

Vyas also accused BookMyShow of deceiving the public and Coldplay fans, calling for an FIR to be filed against the company on charges of fraud.

A few days ago, BookMyShow also filed a police complaint regarding the resale of Coldplay tickets. The ticketing platform said in an official statement on September 22 that it has no ties with any ticket selling or reselling platforms, including third-party individuals involved in the reselling of Coldplay’s ‘Music Of The Spheres World Tour Tickets 2025’ in India.

“Scalping is strictly condemned and punishable by law in India. We have filed a complaint with the police authorities and will provide complete support to them in the investigation of this matter,” said the company in the statement.

Zomato was also caught up in a similar situation as the tickets for Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Dil-luminati Tour – India’ were sold out in a few minutes and were later being sold on reselling platforms at inflated prices.

Zomato and BookMyShow are the two major players in the ticketing segment after the former acquired Paytm’s events and ticketing business.
