CEO Tim Cook Says Apple Saw Double-Digit Growth In iPhone, Mac & Services In India

Apple chief executive Tim Cook has said that the company saw a jump in growth during April-June quarter, with India delivering revenue records catapulted by double-digit gains across iPhones, Macs and services.

“We saw an acceleration of growth around the world in the vast majority of markets we track, including Greater China and many emerging markets, and we had set a June quarter revenue records in more than two dozen countries and regions, including the US, Canada, Latin America, Western Europe, the Middle East, India and South Asia,” Cook said. 

“…We saw iPhone growth in every geographic segment, and double-digit growth in emerging markets, including India, the Middle East, South Asia and Brazil…” he added.

Apple saw 13.4% revenue jump from iPhone sales globally to $44.6 Bn in the June quarter, largely driven by the iPhone 16 family. Besides, the company’s overall revenue for the quarter went up by 10% to $94 Bn. 

Apple is also looking to double down on its retail stores in India. It is planning to open four new stores in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune and Noida later this year. 

“We recently launched the Apple Store in Saudi Arabia, and we couldn’t be more excited to open new stores in the UAE and India later this year,” said Cook. 

Besides increasing its retail presence in the country, Apple is ramping up its manufacturing efforts as well. Earlier this year, the company started to shift a chunk of its iPhone manufacturing to India. Besides, the company said that all iPhones sold in the US will be manufactured in India. 

Foxconn, Tata Electronics, Dixon, Pegatron and Wistron (acquired by Tata Electronics), among others. are the major contract manufacturers of Apple in India. With its efforts to push manufacturing in India, Apple exported 76% more iPhones worth INR 1.50 Lakh Cr (free on board value) from India in FY25, compared to a year ago.

However, the Cupertino-based company also faced hurdles to its manufacturing dreams in India. Chinese authorities did not allow one of Apple suppliers to export machinery to India which it needed to test the trial production of iPhone 17 in the country.

Besides, Foxconn also recalled over 300 Chinese employees from India last month, which was speculated to hamper the production of iPhone 17. However, the Taiwanese-based manufacturer said that it would not impact the operations of the company in the country.
