SUMMARY

Unveiled by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's (MoHFW) secretary Apurva Chandra, myCGHS to make information more accessible to CGHS beneficiaries

The app was developed by the technical teams of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) Himachal Pradesh and NIC Health Team and is available for download on both iOS and Android devices

It offers a wide range of services, including booking and cancellation of online appointments, downloading CGHS card and index card, accessing lab reports from CGHS labs, among others

The Union Health Ministry has rolled out myCGHS app, aiming to boost access to electronic health records, information and resources for the beneficiaries of the central government health scheme (CGHS).

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s (MoHFW) secretary Apurva Chandra unveiled the app on Wednesday (April 3).

The app is available for download on both iOS and Android platforms, free of charge.

It was developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in collaboration with the NIC Health Team.

The app offers services such as online appointment booking, accessing lab reports from CGHS labs, downloading CGHS card, checking medicine history, and tracking medical reimbursement claim status. It also enables users to locate nearby wellness centres, empanelled hospitals, labs, and dental units while also keeping them updated with the latest news and highlights.

Under the CGHS scheme, government employees and their kin are eligible for healthcare facilities. It was started in 1954 and is available in around 70 cities in India.

“The myCGHS app is an essential leap for CGHS in the realm of healthcare services. It empowers CGHS beneficiaries with convenient access to essential healthcare features right at their fingertips. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision of leveraging technology to enhance the quality and accessibility of healthcare services,” said Chandra.

This adds another feather in the government’s ambitious digital public infrastructure (DPI) cap.

Launched in late 2023, the government defines DPI as “a set of shared digital systems that should be secure and interoperable, and can be built on open standards and specifications to deliver and provide equitable access to public and/or private services at societal scale”.
