US and India-based presentation software provider Chronicle has secured $7.5 Mn in a seed funding round from Accel and Square Peg.

Angel investors from Apple, Google, Meta, Slack, Stripe, Superhuman, OnDeck, and Adobe also took part in the funding round.

Chronicle will use the current proceeds for product development and hire talent for its core team.

Founded in 2021 by IIT graduates Mayuresh Patole and Tejas Gawande, Chronicle enables users to create presentations with ‘pre-designed blocks’ or templates within a few minutes.

According to the startup, Chronicle is currently focusing on helping founders create interactive presentations for pitch decks. Furthermore, it aims to expand the internal and external use cases of its product.

“Our early adopters can use Chronicle to create some of the best decks in just 8 minutes instead of eight hours. Eventually, we see Chronicle as the best way to anchor any meeting or discussion, in-person, remote, or asynchronous. It is a huge opportunity to impact millions of people who are not happy with how stories are told today,” said Mayuresh Patole.

Both the founders have previously worked in the corporate sphere with companies such as Deloitte, The Boston Consulting Group, Luxasia, shARE and Dalberg Global, among others.

The startup has recently completed its beta testing and is also building its product offerings. Its product pricing is also under discussion, Chronicle said.

“Today, most audiences stop paying attention to the presentation at the 10-minute mark. As younger generations have entered the workplace, this feeling of ‘death by Powerpoint’ has only grown more acute. Simply making tools that lead to faster creation of poorly designed slides with chartjunk and bad information design further aggravates this issue,” said Tejas Gawande, cofounder at Chronicle.

Chronicle operates through a remote team of 15 employees working across the US, India, and Australia.

Currently, it is facing competition from Prezent, ClickShare Presentation, Canva and BrandOffice, among others.

As per a DataIntelo report, the global presentation software market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.4% during the forecast period 2021-2030.
