Apple’s iPhone Exports From India Surge 75% YoY To $10 Bn In H1 FY26

SUMMARY

In September alone, outbound iPhone shipments surged to $1.25 Bn, marking a 155% YoY rise

In April, Tata Electronics’ Hosur plant and Foxconn’s new Bengaluru unit commenced production, expanding Apple's Indian manufacturing network to five factories

Notably, nearly 80% of Apple’s India output ($17.5 Bn out of a total $22 Bn production) in FY25 was exported

Apple reportedly exported a record $10 Bn (about INR 88,730 Cr) worth iPhones from India in the first six months of FY26, reflecting a 75% jump from $5.71 Bn in the same period last year.

In September alone, outbound shipments surged 155% YoY to $1.25 Bn, ET reported, citing officials.

The export momentum is closely tied to significant capacity ramp-ups. In April 2025, Tata Electronics’ Hosur plant and Foxconn’s new Bengaluru unit commenced production, expanding Apple’s Indian manufacturing network to five factories.

Inc42 has reached out to Apple, Tata Electronics and Foxconn with queries. The story will be updated on receiving responses.

Notably, nearly 80% of Apple’s India output ($17.5 Bn out of a total $22 Bn production) in FY25 was exported.

Apple has been doubling down on India production, and, in a strategic shift, began producing its latest iPhone 17 series in India right from its launch.

Behind the investments by the tech giant and its manufacturing partners in India is the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for mobile manufacturing.

Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw earlier said that the exports of iPhones from India stood at INR 1.5 Lakh Cr in FY25, marking a 76% YoY increase.

In April this year, Apple decided to shift its entire assembly of iPhones sold in the US to India by as early as next year amid the trade tensions between Washington and Beijing.

Meanwhile, India also continues to be a fast growing market for Apple. In the company’s earnings call for the June quarter, Apple CEO Tim Cook said iPhone sales saw double-digit growth in India.
