Amid Data Monetisation Row, Parl Panel Summons IRCTC For Briefing On Citizens’ Privacy

SUMMARY

The catering and ticketing arm of Indian Railways will brief the Standing Committee On Communications and Information Technology on ‘citizens’ data security and privacy’

The meeting comes amid debate over IRCTC’s move to monetise its data assets

Headed by MP Shashi Tharoor, the panel comprises 21 members from Lok Sabha and 4 from Rajya Sabha.

A parliamentary panel has ordered representatives of the Indian Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to brief the members of the committee on data security and privacy of citizens.

According to a notice posted on the website of Lok Sabha, the Standing Committee On Communications and Technology will be briefed by IRCTC on August 26.
