Adda247’s Loss Rises 2.5% To INR 104 Cr In FY25, Revenue Remains Flat

Edtech startup Adda247’s net loss grew 2.5% to INR 103.6 Cr in the year ended March 2025 from INR 101 Cr in the previous fiscal, with its revenue and expenses remaining almost flat. 

Notably, the startup had narrowed its loss by 66% in FY24 from INR 296 Cr in FY23. 

As per Adda247’s MCA filings, its operating revenue declined marginally to INR 217.10 Cr in FY25 from INR 219 Cr in the previous fiscal year.

Founded in 2016 by Anil Nagar and Saurabh Bansal, Adda247 is a test prep platform for over 500 examinations, including CUET, IIT JEE, NEET, UPSC, and various government job exams. Its offerings include live online classes, on-demand video courses, mock tests, ebooks, books, among others. 

The startup has been looking at inorganic expansion and acquired job placement preparation platform PrepInsta and CA test preparation platform Ekagrata Eduserv during the year under review. 

Prior to this, Adda247 also acquired UPSC preparation platform StudyIQ in 2021 and AR/VR learning modules platform Veeksha in 2023.

The startup has raised a total funding of $67 Mn to date and counts the likes of WestBridge Capital, Google, and Info Edge among its investors. It competes against the likes of Testbook, PhysicsWallah, and Unacademy.

Where Did Adda247 Spend? 

The startup’s total expenses stood at INR 343.8 Cr during the year under review as against INR 344.3 Cr in FY24. 

Employee Benefit Expenses: The startup’s spending on its employees, including salaries, wages and incentives, rose 9% to INR 125.9 Cr in FY25 from INR 137.1 Cr in the previous fiscal year. 

Information Technology Expenses: Adda247’s IT costs declined to INR 18.6 Cr during the year from INR 20.4 Cr in FY24. 

Advertising & Marketing Expenses: The startup’s promotional expenses saw a modest 8% increase to INR 27.9 Cr in FY25 from INR 25.8 Cr in the previous fiscal year.
