GSF Accelerator has introduced its second batch of 12 new portfolio companies that have participated in its 2013 Summer Accelerator Program.
The accelerator, which just started off a year ago, is the brainchild of longtime Reliance Entertainment executive Rajesh Sawhney. He’s been seeking a way to jumpstart a startup culture in India, even as multi-national foreign and domestic companies continue to recruit the best technical talent out of the country’s universities.
Instead of concentrating the accelerator in a single city, GSF simultaneously runs a 10-week program in New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai. Sawhney says this is because India has so many major cities with technical talent, each with their own strengths. Mumbai is at the heart of India’s entertainment industry while Bangalore is the tech hub that attracts foreign companies.

Delhi:
1) ClinchPad: ClinchPad is a CRM platform that’s very visual and designed for smaller businesses to manage their sales pipeline.
2) Postergully: Lets people buy posters and merchandise in India, letting brands & businesses monetize on their brand value through merchandising.
3) Triptern: An automatic, personalized trip planner that makes planning your itinerary fun and easy.
Mumbai:
4) Browntape: SaaS based service for Internet sellers to start selling on multiple platforms like eBay, Amazon, Snapdeal, Flipkart and more.
5) TimeSaverz: TimeSaverz helps you outsource your home management activities, where people can book services like house cleanings and laundry on short notice.
6) Airstream: AirStream lets you stream your PC to your mobile devices, making all the personal content available at your fingertips.
Bangalore:
7) Tradestreet: Currently, only 5% brokerage account holders in India are active. TradeStreet is developing the engagement model to increase the participation.
8) Swym: Swym is a smart “shopping mailbox” for consumers. It makes promotional emails from consumers’ favorite retailers more engaging on mobile devices.
9) RindingO: A ridesharing platform that connects and incentivizes riders and drivers to fill empty seats in cars, and makes it a comfortable, secure and rewarding way to travel.
Chennai:
10) DhilCare: DhilCare is a no frills affordable mobile phone based ECG solution, which aims to address affordability and accessibility issues in preliminary cardiac treatment in India.
11) TinySurprise: Tinysurprise is a curated marketplace for gifting and home-baked goods.
12) Flinto: Flinto is a subscription e-commerce startup with a monthly box full of toys and games meant for 3-7 year old’s.
Since the first batch, Sawhney has added a few more weeks onto the accelerator program and strengthened the mentor system to help companies after they’ve graduated from the program. Out of the company’s first batch of 14 companies, eight have gone on to raise additional funding and GSF has participated in four of those rounds.
This time’s Accelerator Program will culminate in a two-day conference, GSF #WhereDoWeGONow on August 21 and 22, 2013 in Bangalore.
